WEST, JACK E. – Clear Lake City – Jack E. West, 71, a retired NASA engineer, will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Brookside Cemetery in Houston, Dr. Tom Shelton officiating.
Arrangements are under direction of Jack Rose Funeral Home of League City.
Mr. West died Sunday at St. John Hospital in Nassau Bay.
He was born Nov. 27, 1910, in Houston. He had lived in Clear Lake City for 16 years and was a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers.
He is survived by his wife Evenly D. West of Clear Lake City; two sons, Bobby Lee West of Bastrop and Tim V. Wet of Porter; two daughters, Mary Allen of Nassau Bay and Dianne Hamm of Clear Lake City; a brother, Judge V. L. "Bud" West of La Porte; and five grandchildren.

WEST, JACK E. – La Marque – Services for Jack E. West 56, a retired electronic inspector will be 10 a.m. Friday at Emken-Linton Funeral Home in La Marque, the Rev. Leo Smith officiating.
Burial will be at Veterans Cemetery in Houston.
Mr. West died Wednesday at Veterans Hospital in Houston.
He was born July 5, 1926, in Wichita, Kan. A veteran of World War II, Mr. West was a member of the Disabled American Veterans Post No 1 in Huston, American Legion Post No. 19 of Texas City and VGW Post No 8248 of La Marque.
He is survived by his wife Marie West of La Marque; a daughter Nancy E. West of La Marque; his mother, Ellen Mason of Texas City; a brother Joe Wall of Texas City; and six sisters. Lovena Jimenez of La Canada, Calif., Pat Day of Redmond, Calif., Ellen Fickey of Madisonville, Texas, Evelyn Hardt of Racine, Wis., Elizabeth Cook of Alta Loma and Mary Louise Turner of Texas City.
Visitors may call at the funeral home after noon today.

Pauline was of the Baptist faith and was employed at Commercial Meat Company in Houston as a meat cutter in the grocery business. Later she worked for Home Health as a caretaker. Hazel attended East Texas State University in Commerce, Texas and received a Bachelors of Arts degree in Latin.She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe P. The second of three children, Mr. Washington attended Independence Public School System, Independence, Texas. He accepted Christ as his personal savior and was baptized at an early age at Liberty Baptist Church in Independence. On January 15, 1930, he united in marriage with Ms. Willie Mae Farmer. To this union seven daughters were born. The family moved to Dickinson in 1945. All seven of his girls attended and graduated from Paul Lawrence Dunbar School in Dickinson. Mr. Washington was employed at Sun Oil Company, Pan America and Lyndon B. Johnson NASA Space Center where he retired. He was a member of New Jersalem Baptist Church and Pride of Dickinson Masonic Lodge #471 F & AM - Prince Hall Affiliation. On Friday, August 15, 2003, he went to meet his King at the golden age of 95. He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 61 years, Willie Mae Washington; two daughters, Virgil L. Washington and Maxine G. Washington Rogers; his parents, one brother, E. J. Washington; one sister Verdell Washington and one grandson, Leon Fisher Green. He leaves to cherish his memories five loving, dedicated and loyal daughters, Thelma M. Washington of Dallas, Joyce V. (Aaron) Hobbs of Dickinson, Octavia L. Green of Dickinson, Willie Marie Jamison of Texas City and Nelva Washington of Dickinson; a devoted son-in-law, Levi Rogers of Ft. WATSON, EDWARD W. - Winter Park, Florida - Edward Willard Watson, 92, died in Winter Park Florida on September 1, 2003. He was born November 18, 1910, in Galveston, Texas. A native Galvestonian, he was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Paul Watson. Ed graduated from Ball High School in 1926. He received his BA degree from the University of the South at Sewanee in 1930, and his law degree from Harvard in 1933. During World War II from 1943, to 1945, he was a member of the Naval Reserve with the rank of Lieutenant Commander. At the close of the war he continued in the practice of law, primarily martime law. He was a member of the Galveston County Texas and American Bar Association. He served as Galveston City Attorney from 1947, to 1951. Ed was a member of the special charter commission which rewrote the Galveston City Charter in 1959-1960, and was approved by the electorate, putting into effect the council manager form of government. He was a partner in the law firm of Eastham, Watson, Dale and Forney and headed the office in Galveston.

WEBERLEIN, BERNICE LOUISE 'BEA' - Bernice Louise "Bea" Weberlein, age 67, actress and singer, passed away peacefully in her sleep Thursday, August 21, 2003, at Gulf Health Care Center in Galveston, Texas. She was born on September 18, 1935, in Detroit, Michigan to Clarence and Marion Toonder. She graduated in 1953 from Redford High School in Detroit and attended Eastern Michigan State University where she studied voice and acting.Bea moved to Texas City in 1962 and began her career in acting and directing with the Texas City Little Theater. From 1972 to 1978, she was instrumental in the development of the community theater program at College of the Mainland in Texas City. Bea served as the first production manager and established the theater under the wing of the Continuing Education program. Her love was to see the inexperienced actor personally benefit from contact with the veteran actor. In 1978, Bea moved to Galveston and remained an island resident until her passing. She was active in promotional and development work with other non-profit organizations in the area that include the first summer of the Galveston Outdoor Musical Theater, Dickens Evening on the Strand, and the Opera House. She then later pursued her skills in accounting and served several small businesses in the community. Bea is survived by four daughters, Mary Ellen Weberlein of Houston, Eileen Baker and husband, Bryan of Houston, Joanne Kolius and husband, John of LaPorte and Gerilyn Weberlein of Galveston; one granddaughter who was the love of her life, Amandalyn Lemire of Galveston; two brothers, Thomas Toonder and wife, Dorothy of Westland, Michigan and Roger Toonder and wife, Barbara of Fenton, Michigan; seven nieces and four nephews. Along with her parents, her sister, Mary Dainty and brother-in-law, George Dainty, precedes her in death. Cremation will take place followed by a private memorial service. WITTING, HARDEN F. - Harden F. Witting died Saturday, October 18, 2003, at his home, one month before his 97th birthday. Harden was born in Galveston, Texas, on November 24, 1906, of loving parents, Pauline Martha Harden Wittig and Ernst Herman Wittig, Sr. He attributed his long life to his parents' good genes rather than anything he did. He graduated from Galveston public schools and immediately went to work as assistant to the president of a steamship agency. In 1942, he enlisted as a First Lieutenant in the U.S. Army Transportation Corps, and five weeks later was assigned to the Persian Gulf Command as officer in charge of five ports in Persia. He left the Persian Gulf Command as a Major, as officer in charge of the Control Branch in Teheran.

WOOLEY, JOE A. - Houston - Joe A. Woolley born in Strong, Arkansas on August 14, 1937, passed away on August 8, 2003, in Houston, Texas at the age of 65. Mr. Woolley, was a retired 20 year veteran of National Football League front office and coaching positions with Houston Oilers, New Orleans Saints, Philadelphia Eagles, and Arizona Cardinals. He began his career coaching football, basketball, and baseball at Texarkana (Ark.) High School (1962-65) and later moved to Ball High School (1966-72) in Galveston, Texas, leading both schools to state playoff berths in football. Woolley attended Oklahoma State where he lettered in football, baseball, and basketball (1960-61) while earning a bachelor's degree in education. He is survived by his son, Scott Woolley and his fiancιe, Linda Henson; grandchildren, Taylor and Trent Woolley; sisters, Frances Patterson and Norma Whitehead and her husband John; life long friend, Martha Woolley along with other relatives and friends.
