HAYMAN, DOROTHY MARY - Funeral Services for Mrs. Dorothy Mary Hayman, 27, native of Galveston and a resident of Port Lavaca for the past two years, will be held this morning at 10 o'clock in the Drawing Room of the Malloy & Son Funeral Home with Rt. Rev. Msgr. Daniel P. O'Connell officiating.
Interment will be in Old Catholic Cemetery.

HART, WOODROW SR. (Ace) - PORT BOLIVAR – Woodrow (Ace) Hart Sr., 62, died Saturday at John Sealy Hospital. Funeral services will be held 4 p.m. today at the chapel of James Crowder Funeral Home, The Rev Jerry Smith officiating.
Burial will follow at Grace Memorial Park in Alta Loma.
Born June 30, 1919 in Houston, Mr. Hart was a heavy equipment operator mow currently employed with Becthel Industries in Galveston. He was also a member of Operating Engineers local #450 in Texas City and A veteran of World War II.
Mr. Hart was a resident of Bolivar for 15 years and a former resident of La Marque.
He is survived by his wife Oliviar Hart of Bolivar; two daughters, Linda Cullifer and Pat Johnson, both of Texas City; three sons, Ricky Hart and Woodrow Hart Jr., both of Alta Loma, and Jimmy Hart of Teas City; one bother, Les Hart of Jacksonville and 12 grandchildren.
Visitors may call at the funeral home after 8 a.m. today. Pallbearers will be members of Operating Engineers Local #450 of Texas City.

HAGERMAN, JR., R. E. "BUDDY" - Bayou Vista - Mr. R. E. "Buddy" Hagerman passed from this life Tuesday morning at MD Anderson Cancer Center following a three year battle with leukemia. Buddy was born September 12, 1925, in Galveston, Texas, and lived most of his life in the Santa Fe area and Sargent. After graduating from Santa Fe High School, he served his nation as a U. S. Marine during WW II. In 1952, he married the former Joyce Hultquist which began a union that would span over fifty years. A self-made man, Buddy started his own business on a shoestring in 1963. It would later be known as Santa Fe Auto Parts and recently celebrated forty years as a successful business. He has always played an active role in the communities in which he lived. He was currently an active member of First Baptist Church of Hitchcock, had been a deacon of the First Baptist Church of Sargent, was a member of Santa Fe Chamber of Commerce, a past president of the Santa Fe Jaycees, past board member of the Automotive Wholesalers of Texas, and a former board member of WCID #8. A very generous person, Buddy was well known for helping to provide school scholarships to many throughout the years, in addition to meeting the needs, both known and unknown, in various churches. She was an ordained minister and co-pastored with her husband for the past forty years at Life Tabernacle in Jasper, where she was an accomplished musician and songwriter. She was the Praise and Worship leader at the church and Director of its Women's Fellowship. She was active with her husband in their Summer Evangelistic Tours as singer and minister. Past president of Women's Aglow in Jasper, she was co-owner of J. H. I. since 1960. An accomplished fisherwoman, bargain hunter, and needleworker, all who me her considered her a "Great Lady", many called her "Momma Hallum."

Worth, Texas; Noel & Ginger Hankamer, Orville Hankamer, Wineva Hankamer all of Alvin, Texas; numerous nieces and nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

HARBISON, ALICE LORENA CURREY - Alice Lorena Currey Harbison, born September 25, 1908, passed away August 24, 2003. Lorena began work for Citizens State Bank of Dickinson in 1943, as Assistant Cashier. In 1959, she became an employee of the League City State Bank as Assistant Cashier, became a director in that same year, and was promoted to the position of Vice President in 1965. She worked for a brief time at the Webster State Bank following its opening in 1963. Lorena retired in January 1974, and stayed at home for awhile, but in 1975, returned to League City Bank and Trust in the capacity of public relations. She stayed there until her health began to fail at the age of 89. She is preceded in death by her husband Homer V. Harbison in 1982, her sister Juanita Currey Sheldon, and her brother Vivian "Buddy" Currey. Survivors include her daughter Betty Jane Green and husband R.C.; grandchildren Robert, Barry, Beth and Amy; and seven great-grandchildren. Visitation will be tonight from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Jack Rowe Funeral Home. Richard is survived by his wife, Estella Harris of League City; mother, Helen Harris of Lake Jackson; daughters, Barbara Harris of South Carolina, Regina Rodriguez of Lake Jackson; sons, Richard Alan Harris Jr. of League City, Kevin Andrew Harris of League City; sisters, Nancy Harris of Sweeney, Janie Harris of Houston; brothers, David Harris of California, Ronnie Harris of Lake Jackson and five grandchildren. Richard is preceded in death by his father, Reverend Bruce Harris. Richard was employed by Time Warner Cable since 1985, he began his employment as an Installer in Clute, Texas. Working in Galveston, League City and Houston, he progressed to District Manager for the Lower Bay District. To his colleagues, Richard leaves behind a positive example of managerial style-honesty, integrity and fair-mindedness. Recognizing his leadership abilities, Richard's supervisors nominated him as one of the first participants in Time Warner Cable's Houston Leadership Development Program. He completed the Helping Everyone Reach Operational Excellence and achieved our Standards (HEROES) program. Richard's concern for others went beyond his workday. He tutored in the Time to Read Literacy program, painted houses with the "Catch the Pasadena Spirit", and actively participated in the Time Warner PAC for the Houston Division. In addition to being an accomplished wood craftsman, Richard refurbished and customized a 1955 Chevrolet truck. Richard shared his passion for boating with his two sons, Richard, Jr. and Kevin. Visitation is scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Forest Park East Funeral Home. HAYES, MIGNON HUGUET - Ft. Worth - Mrs. Mignon Huguet Hayes passed from this life December 14, 2003, at Fireside Lodge in Ft. Worth. Born in Galveston, Texas to Franklin Peter and Ethel Louise Brown Huguet, Mignon spent her childhood in Galveston and Texas City. She graduated from Central High School and studied dancing with the Dancing Masters of America in New York. Along with her cousin, Dorothy Brown, she owned and operated a dance studio in Texas City until 1933. In September of 1933, she married James A. Hayes, Sr., beginning a union that would span almost 38 years and produce four children. They lived for many years in Ft. Worth until his death in 1971. She would spend her later years living in Galveston, Texas City, Santa Fe and Ft. Worth. She enjoyed working with her family at Hayes Funeral Home where she was able to visit with many of her longtime friends in the area. HEARN, SUNSHINE - Pasadena - When Charlie Garvin and Carrie Emfinger Coats named their second daughter Sunshine, they could not have selected a more appropriate name. Sunshine Hearn radiated love and warmth to everyone she came in contact with for eighty-three years. Her sweet gentle kindness was a blessing from God to her family, friends, co-workers and acquaintances. Mrs. Hearn died on August 23, 2003, after a lengthy but gallant struggle with degenerative heart disease.She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-two years, John Dudley Hearn; her oldest daughter Martha Jean Hutchinson; sister Vinita Highsaw; sister June Odell; brother-in-law J. K. Matheny; brother-in-law Ernst Haertig and sister-in-law Reece Hearn. She is survived by her son William Hearn and wife Mary, daughter Barbara Weir and husband Norris, son John Hearn and wife Tamara; twelve grandchildren, twenty-two great grandchildren, four great great grandchildren; sister Katy Cook and husband Pat; brother-in-law Lonnie Odell; sister-in-law Lola Haertig and sister-in-law Mary Lou Matheny. Mrs. Hearn was born in Brawley, California on July 15, 1920, was raised in Waco, Texas and lived as an adult in Pasadena, Seabrook, Huntington and La Porte. Mrs. Hearn was a devout Christian and worshiped with Churches of Christ in Pasadena, La Porte and Huntington. She was an active member of Parkview Church of Christ in Pasadena at the time of death. She spent many years as a volunteer at Memorial Hospital in Lufkin, Texas. The family wishes to express deep appreciation to the staff of Fairmont House in La Porte where Mrs. Hearn lived for two years and to the staff at Turner Geriatric Center in Galveston where she spent her final four months. HENDRICKSON, JOHN E. - Mr. John E. Hendrickson, 85, was born in Rockport, Texas on June 21, 1918, and passed away on October 3, 2003, at Clear Lake Medical Center. He moved to Galveston at the age of six months where he graduated from Ball High School in 1936. He was working for the Galveston News/Tribune as a photographer when he entered the Army in World War II where he served as a combat photographer on the Island of Okinawa. After his honorable discharge from the Army as a Staff Sergeant he returned to Galveston, where he married Elsie Buck on June 21, 1946. Mr. Hendrickson then returned to work as a photographer for the Galveston News/Tribune and various Houston papers until they moved to Texas City. Mr. Hendrickson and his wife lived in Texas City for 47 years where he worked for American National Insurance Company, from which he retired.

HENNIX, BERTHA L. - West Texas City - Mrs. Bertha L. Young Hennix passed away on Sunday, August 24, 2003, at her daughter's home. Mrs. Hennix was born November 8, 1938, in Delhi, Louisiana to the late Mr. Johnnie Lee Young Sr. and Mrs. Bessie Boston Young. She was educated in the public schools of Texas City, Texas attending Booker T. Washington High School. In the year of 1970, she was united in the Holy Matrimony to Rufus Hennix. This union was blessed with seven children. Mr. Hennix and her sister, Virginia Dinet, preceded her in death.
In 1947, Mrs. Hennix moved to Texas City. She accepted Christ at an early age and united with First Missionary Baptist Church, later with Antioch New Day Deliverance Holiness Church and recently with Macedonia Ministries under the pastorate of Rev. Donald R. Jefferson, all in Texas City, Texas. She was employed for over seventeen years at Monsanto Oil Company in various capacities. Left with cherished memories are her loving children, Beatrice Prichett and Ron Young (Betty) of Texas City, Michael Young, La Marque, Texas and Anthony Young (Pauline) of Dallas, Texas; stepchildren Delores Jean Hennix, Rayville, Louisiana, Alfred Charles Hennix (Betty), Winnboro, Louisiana, and Martha Spears of Monroe, Louisiana; sisters Florence Samuels, Essie Jewel Skinner (Calvin), Dorothy M. Robertson (Pee Wee), Leola Miles, and Debra Alexander, all of Texas City; Brothers, Johnnie Lee Young, Jr. (Josephine), Crosby, Texas, Bishop Otis L. Young (Sandra) and Alfred P. She married Cub, a seismic engineer with Humble Oil, in 1933, and after many moves made their home in Bayview, Texas. Vesta served as the school librarian at LaVace Stewart Elementary in the CCISD from 1949, until her retirement in 1971. She taught Sunday School and helped establish the library at the League City Church of Christ. She was a life member of the PTA and a past member of the Galveston County Historical Commission. She was an Ordained Minister for 69 years. HOWARD, JOHN STEVEN - Brenham - - John Steven Howard, 96, of Washington, died Friday, August 29, 2003, at the Gazebo Terrace Convalescent Center in Brenham, Texas. He was born July 23, 1907, in San Antonio, Texas, the son of William and Tennie Byrd Howard. A veteran of WWII, Howard served in the U. S. Navy. After the war, he continued to sail with the Lykes Brothers Steamship Lines. He was married to Rose Bastic and lived in Houston for twenty-five years. Upon his retirement from Lykes, he moved to Galveston, where he was a real estate broker. His interest in reading led him to join the Great Books Club at Rosenberg Library, attend a Galveston College class in speed and communications and became a lector at St. Mary's Cathedral. In 1993, he moved to Washington because of his interest in family history. He was a charter member of the Descendents of Austin's Old Three Hundred and the Sons of the Confederacy.

Bobbie was born August 30, 1907, to Walter and Nettie Corina White Dearinger in Owensboro, Kentucky. She lived most of her life in Galveston, marrying Jeff Huddleston in April of 1924. She was employed by Joe Grasso and Sons as bookkeeper, retiring after 21 years of service. She was a member of W.I.B.C., an active member of A.A.R.P, an active bowler and a member of First Baptist Church for over 80 years. Preceded in death by her parents and husband, Jeff, who passed away in 1975, son, David Huddleston, sister, Prudie Felkner and brother, Truman Dearinger, Bobbie is survived by her daughter, Betty Perkins of Santa Fe, Texas; daughter-in-law, Betty Lou Huddleston of Galveston; grandchildren David Huddleston, Jr. and wife, Janice of Santa Fe, Jacque Vasquez and husband, Eddie of Galveston, Ricth Perkins and wife, Tami of Santa Fe; great grandchildren, Stacey Torres and husband, Jay, Karyn Cabriales and husband, Rob, Dana Parks and husband, Lane, Shawn Huddleston, Justin Perkins, Kelsey Perkins and Wade Perkins; great great grandchildren, Madison Torres, Trevor Torres and Mitch Parks; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
