O'PRAY, ELBERT H. SR. – Funeral services for Elbert Harley O'Pry, Sr., 64, of Galveston, will be conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's Cathedral Basilica, Msgr. C. J. Allen officiating.
A rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. today at Malloy & Son Funeral Home chapel. Burial will follow Tuesday's service at Calvary Cemetery in Galveston, under the direction of Malloy & Son Funeral Home.
Mr. O'Pry died Friday at St. Mary's Hospital in Galveston. He was born May 8, 1916 in Mexia, Texas. He worked as a salesman. He had lived in Galveston for 40 years. He also was a veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth O'Pry of Galveston; his two sons, Harley E. O'Pry and Dennis M. O'Pry, both of Houston; his sister, Vera Hughes of Hamin, Texas; three grandchildren, Warren O'Pry, Jackie Laizure, and Troy Laizure; his daughter-in-aw, Nancy O'Pry of Houston; nieces, nephews and other close relatives.
Vistors may call at Malloy & Son Funeral Home at 4 p.m. today. Pallbearers will be R. A. Apffel, T. I. Milliet, Robert Mendoza, Jack Gallagher, Joseph Pinachio and Robert Dushman.

She was a 1955, graduate of Dunbar High School in West Station, Texas. She received a Diploma in Nursing from Prairie View University and later received a Bachelor of Science from UTMB School of Nursing. Mrs. Olivier was a resident of Texas City since 1971. She worked in the nursing profession for 40+ years, working with High Risk Labor & Delivery and Neo-Natal ICU. She was a travel nurse and traveled throughout the United States. She was a member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church. Preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Thomas Julius Olivier; and a brother, Thomas Lott; she leaves to cherish her precious memories her children, Darryl Olivier of Texas City, Yvette Olivier of Missouri City, Thomas Duane Olivier (Resha) of Pittsburg, California and Marcia Olivier-Jones (Adam) of Texas City; sister, Flora Bullock (Ron) of Denton, Texas, Earnestine Davenport of Yonkers, New York; brother, Lewis Lott of Ft. O'NEIL, SR., DARRELL GENE - Santa Fe - Mr. Darrell Gene "Worm" O'Neil, Sr. passed from this life Tuesday, August 5, 2003, in Texas City. Born May 18, 1933, in Wichita, Kansas, Mr. O'Neil had been a resident of Santa Fe since 1965, and had attended First Baptist Church of Alta Loma. He had been employed at Sterling Chemical Company as an electrician until his retirement in 1993, and served in the US Air Force during the Korean War. A member of IBEW Local # 527 where he had been a Union Steward, he had been with the Galveston County Marine Division Reserves and the Galveston County Sheriff's Department Reserves. Mr. O'Neil enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, watching Nascar races and was an avid fisherman. Darrell was affectionately known as "PaPa Duck" to his grandchildren whom he loved, especially his great-grandson, Jack.He was preceded in death by his parents, George Franklin and Eva Blanche Kirkpatrick O'Neil and his wife, Elouise Jane Newcomb O'Neil.
Survivors include his son, Darrell Gene O'Neil, Jr. of Santa Fe; daughters and sons-in-law, Penny Dee and Roy Perez, Tina Louise and David Powers, all of Santa Fe; grandchildren, Christina Louise Holland, Rocky Dean Holland, Jr., Amanda Kay Perez, Thomas Antonio Perez; great-grandchildren, Jack Wesley Mancuso, and Sara Elizabeth Mancuso. Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m., Saturday, August 9, 2003, in the chapel of Hayes Funeral Home with Pastor Bob Caperton officiating. She attended Lamar University in Beaumont, where she was a member of Gamma Phi Beta Kappa Sorority, then to the University of Houston, graduating with a B.A. Degree in Sociology. She later went to South Texas Law School graduating with a law degree in 1992. She was a partner in a company that she helped form, "Dual H Inc." in Houston and later "Tidal Enterprises, Inc." in Galveston. Known for her beautiful smile and her positive outlook, she made friends easily with people from all walks of life and brought gaiety and happiness to all whose lives she touched. Charlene's light shown brightly, even during her last hours. She passed from this life with grace and dignity.

SS Company during WWII; Charter member of Galveston Propeller Club; manager Gordon-Sewall Co. of Galveston and Vice-President of Gordon-Sewall Company of Houston. He was well known throughout the Marine Industry during his many years in the business. He was a staunch advocate protecting the environment. He was an avid gardener attending the first master Gardener Class in 1982.

He was born April 17, 1946, to Bernice Owens at UTMB Hospital in Galveston. He was the oldest of four children. Darrell graduated from Central High School in Galveston with the class of 1964. He attended Prairie View University. While in college he was drafted to serve in the U.S. Army and served in the Vietnam War. He worked in various construction companies in the Galveston, Houston area. He also worked for Todd Shipyard and Lipton Tea Company.

OWENS, MILTON "GLENN" -League City - Milton "Glenn" Owens, 72, of League City, Texas died unexpectedly Sunday morning, August 3, 2003. Born on April 2, 1931, in Beeville, Texas, he is survived by his wife of 50 years Anne " Nancy" Owens; sister Peggy Cade; brothers Jim Gillum, and Jerry Owens; sons Donald Owens, Robert Owens and wife Barbara, Michael Owens, Travis Owens and wife Denise, Stephen Owens and wife Marsa; daughters Sallie Villarreal and husband Michael and Frances Yeaney and husband Bradley. He is also survived by eleven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Glenn was a Navy Veteran, retiring from the Navy Reserves as a Lt. Commander. Holding a Masters Degree in Accounting from Texas A&I Kingsville, Texas, he was employed at Celanese Chemical Co. until his retirement. Upon his retirement Glenn went to work for Clear Creek I.S.D. in the physical education department. He was an active member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in League City where he helped to run the food pantry. A dedicated blood donor at Pasadena Blood Center, he was a former scout leader and little league baseball coach. Glenn will be remembered for his generosity to others and his strong love of family.
The Owens family will receive visitors at Jack Rowe Funeral Home on Wednesday, August 6, 2003, from 5-9 p.m. with a rosary being held at 6:30 p.m. Funeral services will be held at St. Mary's Catholic Church on Thursday, August 7, 2003, at 1 p.m. Graveside services to be held at Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery in Dickinson, Texas, with a reception to follow at St. Mary's.
