LOCKE, LOUISE MILLER – 6-28-1866 – 10-26-1942 Last rites held for Mrs. Louise Miller Locke, 76, will be held this afternoon at 4, o'clock, at J. Levy & Bros. funeral home with Dr. Mark C. Magers officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
Mrs. Locke, native of Galveston died Monday at her residence 1212 F.
Active pallbearers will be; William F. Locke, Jr., Herbert Locke, Alva Schreiber, William Schreiber, S. A Fouche and Joseph Schreiber.
All pallbearers with the exception of Mr. Fouche are nephews of Mrs. Locke's.

LOCKE, CAPTAIN H. HENRY – 10-4-1860 8-18-1944 (from gravestone)
Henry Locke – Retired Sea Captain Dies – Capt. Henry Locke, 88, retired sea captain, died Friday evening at his residence, 1212 F, after a brief illness. He had been a resident of Galveston for the past 50 years.
Born in Quintana, Tex. Oct 4, 1860, he went to sea at the age of 13 with his brother. He acquired his own sailing schooner at the age of 21, and operated it and two other schooners between Galveston and the mouth of the Brazos River, Corpus Christi, and Port Isabel until his retirement from active sea duty in 1916.
He is survived by a brother William Frederick Locke, Sr. of Galveston, several nieces and nephews and other relatives.
Funeral services will be held at 4 o'clock tomorrow afternoon at J. Levy & Bros. funeral home, with Dr. Mark C. Magers officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be William F. Locke, Jr., Herbert Locke, S. A. Fouche, Harold Duble, Charles Duble and William J. Schreiber. Submitted by Floyd "Lanny" Martin

LOCKE,SR., LEWIS – Galveston – 1865 – 1944 Capt. Lewis Locke, 79, died at his residence, 1620 I at 2:25 yesterday afternoon. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mary Locke; three daughters, Mrs. Leona Locke Juhring, Mrs. Mae Locke Sneyd, all of Galveston, and Mrs. Eunice Smith of Millbrae, Cal.' One son, Lewis Locke, Jr., two brothers, William Locke and Capt. Henry Locke, both of Galveston; four grandchildren and other relatives.
Capt Lock was born May 10, 1865 in Quintana, Tex. But had lived in Galveston since 1900. He was a retired Captain of the Galveston, Texas City Bar Pilots for more than 30 years and had been a Captain on other vessels since early manhood. He was a member of Tucker Lodge No 297, A.F. & A.M., and El Mina Shrine Temple.

Born March 3, 1905, in Whelling, W. Va., Mrs. Lowe was a housewife and member of Central Christian Church of Galveston.

LAGANA, MONSIGNOR FRANK S. - Monsignor Frank A Lagana died peacefully on Monday, October 20, 2003. He was 90 years old. Msgr. Lagana was the senior priest of the diocese of Galveston-Houston, having been ordained on May 18, 1939, by the late Bishop C.E. Byrne at the St. Mary Seminary Chapel, La Porte, Texas. He served the church as assistant Pastor of Shrine of the True Cross Church, Dickinson (1939-1951) and was the founding Pastor of Queen of Peace Church, La Marque (1951 – until his retirement in 1983). He was named a Domestic Prelate with the title Monsignor on December 10, 1965. He was an accomplished figure ice skater who skated until injury forced him to "hang up his skates" at age 79. Msgr. Lagana was preceded in death by his parents Domenico and Anna Marie Lagana, sister Eugenia Quinn, brother Fst. Lt. Fortunato Lagana, great nephew Peter Sunseri and nephew-in-law Henry J. Trochesset. He is survived by sisters Angela Pieri and Sr. Mary Grace Lagana, D.C.; nieces Yvonne Trochesset and Andrea Sunseri and husband Carroll; great nieces and nephews Carolyn Sunseri, Stephanie Doyle and husband Patrick, Wallace Trochesset and wife Shannon, Frank Trochesset and wife Trudy, Henry A. Trochesset and wife Brenda, Duggan E. Trochesset and wife Robin, and Christopher Trochesset and wife Michelle, as well as six great grand nieces and ten great grand nephews. Visitation will begin at 6:30 p.m. with a Vigil for the deceased at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, October 22, 2003, at Queen of Peace Church, 1224 Cedar Drive, La Marque, Texas. The funeral mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, October 23, 2003, at Shrine of the True Cross Church, 300 Pine Drive, Dickinson, Texas, with most Reverend Joseph Fiorenza, Bishop of the Diocese as celebrant and priests of the diocese as con-celebrants. He moved to Houston in 1975, and then to Galveston, Texas in 1988. He was employed by Galveston County. Robert was the son of Robert T. Lane, II, and the late Ruth E. Lane. He leaves behind a daughter, Ruth E. Lane and her mother Sandra Lane. He also leaves sisters, Pamela (Roger) Bryant of Holly, Michigan, and Sharon Gates of Coopersville, Michigan; special friend Cara Gilliam; and several nieces and nephews. LANIER, MARY ELIZABETH HARRINGTON - Mary Elizabeth Harrington Lanier passed away gracefully Wednesday September 10, 2003. She was born in Butte and raised in Dillon, Montana, the daughter of James and Helen Harrington. A graduate of Beaverhead County High School and Carroll College. She resumed her education 30 years later earning a masters degree in religious education from Saint Thomas University. She married Gene Ace Lanier September 21, 1957, and they shared a wonderful life together in Montana, West Texas, Connecticut, New Orleans and Houston with their five children. Mary was a highly successful Real Estate Agent and received numerous awards for her production and success. Driven by a highly competitive nature she loved showing houses and the thrill of the deal. Mary was always strong maintaining her love of life after the loss of her son Michael in 1979, and her husband Gene in 1986, building a garden at Christ the Good Shepherd Catholic Church in their memory. Her faith and strength continued to keep her family close providing guidance and direction for her four children. She married H. David Baker in 1990, finding a best friend for traveling, enjoying her beach house in Galveston, and doting over their grandchildren until his passing in March 2003. Her smile was contagious to everyone she met. She loved to chat with her friends and family, and was truly interested in all. Mary was a member of the Garden Club, Investment Club, Ravenaux and Champions Country Clubs. Mary was a devoted and proud Catholic, serving as a youth group leader, confirmation, weddings and R.C.I.A. sponsor and current member of Prince of Peace Catholic Community. She received her Irish citizenship in 2001, and had great fun visiting her cousins in County Cork. It was a dream of Mary's to own property in Ireland. She possessed a great knack for decorating and a fine fashion since and was a gracious lady until the end. Mary became an inspiration and role model for many.

LARGENT, LAUREN D'VOE - Lauren D'Voe Largent went to heaven, at age 24. Lauren, one of God's precious and beautiful creatures, was taken from this earth on Sunday, September 14, 2003. Her wonderful and giving life was cut short in Reno, Nevada by a drunk driver. Lauren was working full-time and attending college, following her dreams in the architecture and design field. She was a graduate of Dickinson High School.

A resident of Bastrop for ten years, and formerly of La Marque, he was a Pipefitter for Local 286 of Austin, a Veteran in the US Army in 1967 and a member of VFW. He retired from the military after 32 years of service, serving most of his time at Ellington Air Force Base. Kirk expired on Saturday, August 9, 2003, returning home from a jazz festival on his motorcycle. Kirk was born on June 11, 1957, in Lake Charles, Louisiana, to Serita Guillory-Lubin and Herbert Lubin. He was the eldest of four children born to this union. He graduated from Hitchcock High School in 1975.Kirk loved life and lived it to the fullest. His creed in life was to go out there and make something GOOD happen. He was a U.S. Army Veteran. Kirk relocated to Los Angles in 1983, where he was employed as an electrician. Kirk was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers and at the time of his death he was employed with Miller Brewery in Irwindale, California. Kirk was predeceased in death by his mother and step-father, Robert and Serita Williams; a sister, Mary Lubin-Lewis and a brother, Paul Lubin.
