She was born June 23, 1913, to parents Robert and Nettie Daura Webber. She was a lifelong resident of Arcadia. She met and married, James Blackwell Cargile in 1933, in Hitchcock, Texas. Mrs. Cargile and her husband owned and operated the One-Stop Drug Store on the corner of Jackson and State Highway 6 in Arcadia for over 30 years. She was a member of the Santa Fe Historical Society and a member of the Santa Fe VFW Ladies Auxiliary Gold Star Post 5400 and a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Hitchcock, Texas.

He worked as a route salesman for Coca Cola for 20 years until retiring in 1981. He is affectionately remembered by people around Galveston as "The Coke Man". He then worked as a boatman for Galveston Boatmen's Association until he retired in 1993. Oscar enjoyed fishing and could always be found building something, whether it was for himself or someone else. He was a history buff, and often watched old war movies or cowboy movies. Oscar enjoyed frequent trips to Las Vegas and Louisiana to play his games, and he loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was an honorary member of Knights of Columbus Council #787; a member of the Teamster's Union; and a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Oscar is preceded in death by his parents, Oscar R. and Daisy B. Carlson, Sr.; brother, Otto T. Carlson; and son, Randal E. Carlson. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Cecilia Carlson; daughters, Deborah Sayre, Sandra Homrighaus and husband, Robert, Cynthia Anderson and husband, Dave, and Nancy Cooley and husband, Denny; ten grandchildren Ryan, John, and Michael Novicky, Jason Homrighaus and wife, Caroline, Ashley, Carley, and Kaley Anderson, Chad, Randyl, and Myles Cooley; and one great granddaughter, Elizabeth Novicky. CLEVELAND, SADIE STUBBS CUNGUNESS - Texas City - Mrs. Sadie Stubbs Cunguness Cleveland, a longtime resident of Texas City, was relieved of all her earthly duties and pain on Wednesday morning, August 6, 2003, in presence of family at UTMB in Galveston at the age of 87. She was born in Oak Grove, Louisiana on July 9, 1916, to the late Emma Epting Stubbs Cunguness and Evander Stubbs, two sisters and one brother preceded her in death. She grew up in East Carroll Parish of Louisiana. She attended Cedar Grove School in Oak Grove and Magnolia Training School in Pioneer, Louisiana, where she was known as "Lil Sadie" the basketball star. At an early age Sadie joined Mt. Olive Baptist Church. She was set in place in the Church of God according to God's will in 1951, where Sadie Cleveland was considered a charter member of the Church Street Church of God, Oak Grove, Louisiana. In 1953, Sis. Cleveland pioneered the Texas City Church of God in her home. This congregation was later named according to its locations, Second Avenue Church of God. She was called and chosen to be overseer and servant to the church. God commissioned her to the seniors of Galveston County. Inspired by family members, she pioneered the first chapter of Alcohol Anonymous of Texas City. She met and married Allen Cunguness in 1937, to this union were born three children (two daughters and one son). Allen and son preceded her in death. She later married Simon Cleveland, to this union was born one daughter, along with this union came two stepchildren. Simon preceded her in death. Her family loved her unconditionally. She leaves to cherish her memory three daughters Marion Allean Cunguness-Petitt (Robert) of Kendleton, Texas, Emma Cunguness of Texas City, Alice Faye Clevelend-Stubblefield (Tobias) of La Marque; one step daughter, Sybil Ann Cleveland Dickerson of Galveston; one step-son Simon Alexander Cleveland, Jr.; one sister, LV McMillian of Oak Grove, Louisiana; one foster and special sister, Lela Mae Henderson-Martin of Texas City; five grandchildren; seven step grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren and a host of foster children, nieces, nephews, relatives, family and friends. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, August 12, 2003, at the First Church of God, 2209 29th St. North in Texas City. CRUMPTON, MARY L. Santa Fe - On Thursday, August 7, 2003, Mary L. Crumpton joined her son, Harvey H. Holmes, father, Harry H. Polkinghorne, Sr., husband, Kenneth Crumpton, great grandson, David Jared Sanchez, granddaughter, Cindy Shook, and brother, Harry H. Polkinghorne, Jr., in heaven after a short battle with cancer. She was born Mary Louise Polkinghorne, March 23, 1927, in Galveston. For a number of years she lived in Galveston and was employed at a young age to begin a lifelong career as a businesswoman in Galveston County. She was employed with Lipton Tea for 17 years. She enjoyed her lifestyle in Galveston and loved the beach. She was loving, dedicated, and loyal to her family. She loved music, gardening, sewing, and travel with her longtime friend, Teresa Waggoner. Mary later relocated her home and business with her husband, Kenneth Crumpton, in Santa Fe, where they continue to operate a successful excavation and heavy equipment business. After her husband's death, she continued to work at Grab-All, a local family-run corner store in Santa Fe for the last 15 years. Mary leaves behind her mother, Laura D.
